Location: The port of Zaanstad is situated on the Zaan River, connected directly with the North Sea Canal, 7km N of Amsterdam.
General overview: Zaanstad is made up of three harbours consisting mainly of timber terminals. Ro-Ro and tanker facilities also exist. Minor ship repairs are possible. There are four locations in and around Zaanstad for river cruise vessels, including 3 berths at the Zaanseschans and four berths closer to the city center. Bodecentrumkade 2 berths are adapted for ferries with LOA less than 135 m. Prins Hendrikkade consistsof 2 berths too and is suitable for vessels with the LOA less than 110 m. Burchtkade comprises the one berth for vessels with LOA less than 110 m. Zaanse Schans accomodates vessels with LOA of less than 110 m on 3 berths.
Traffic figures: Approx 160,000t of cargo handled annually.
Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
