General Description
Location: The port of Lagos, situated in the Bight of Benin, including the ports of Apapa and Tin Can Island (see separate entry), is the largest in Nigeria.
Load line zone: Tropical.
General overview: The port handles the majority of the country's seaborne trade and also cargo in transit to inland countries such as Chad and the Niger.
The port enjoys intermodal connection – Rail, Water and Road. Has facilities for handling of oversized cargoes.
Lagos Port Complex has five (5) private Terminals. The Terminal Operators are: AP Moller Terminal Ltd. (APMT), ENL Consortium Ltd. (ENL), Apapa Bulk Terminal Ltd. (ABTL), Greenview Development Nigeria Ltd. (GNDL) and Lilypond Inland Container Terminal.
It is allowed to have declared IMO cargoes on board (in transit).
