General Description
Location: Malabo is located on the N of the Island of Bioko, Gulf of Guinea, in the Atlantic Ocean.
General overview: Malabo, also known as Rey Malabo, is the capital of Equatorial Guinea.
The port has facilities for general cargo, bulk and tanker vessels.
Malabo is divided into the Old Port, which has berths for tankers and general cargo carriers and the New Port for bulk cargo vessels.
K5 multipurpose pier is located approx 4km W of the main port. The refinery and LNG terminals are at Punta Europa Terminal, 10km to the W, see separate entry.
Main imports: All types of food products, construction materials, used vehicles, used clothing, etc.
Exports: Cocoa beans, timber and crude oil.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Floating Dock: 210×36.0×13.5 m., capacity 14,000 tonnes, LOA 210 m., beam 32.0 m., draft 7.0 m.
Transit with IMO cargo onboard: For 1.1E or 1.2B cargo in transit, authorization must be requested prior arrival from the port authorities. In case granted, armed guards may be placed on board during port call for security reasons.
