General Description
Location: Pecem is located on the NE coast of Brazil, in the State of Ceara, approx 22.5nm N of the port of Fortaleza (Mucuripe).
General overview: Pecem is a deep water port comprising 2 piers protected by an "L"-shaped breakwater and reached from the mainland by a 2,120m length causeway bridge.
The port handles general cargo and containers with the main goods being lemons, bananas, shrimp and cashew nuts.
The container terminal is being operated by APM Terminals Pecem with 2 berths in 760m quay. The terminal annually handles 556,793TEU using equipment such as cranes, reach stackers etc.
The LNG Pier is operated by Petrobras for the import of LNG, it is the 1st flexible LNG regasification terminal in Brazil. Can transfer around 7 million m3/day to the Guamare - Pecem pipeline (Gasfor).The LNG is regassed and pumped into the national grid by the "Golar Spirit" while alongside the south side of the pier. Mainly supplies Fortaleza and Ceará thermal power plants.
Pier 3 is under construction for the handling of iron ore and, eventually steel products.

The Port of Rotterdam is a partner of Pecem since 2018, and takes part in strategic decisions in the management and BOD of Pecem.
