General Description
Location: Gravelines is situated midway between Dunkirk and Calais, near the mouth of the Aa River and adjacent to the western port and industrial zone of Dunkirk.
General overview: The port is used by recreational craft, fishing vessels and gives access to the French canal system. Although no longer an entry port, Gravelines is a historic village port that contrasts with its bigger neighbours Calais and Dunkirk. The non-tidal marina basin dries partly, but does so to very soft mud of a depth not to compromise even fin keel yachts. The tidal sluice gates, one set on either side of the marina, are old and lo longer operated, as indicated. The marina in France in the city of Gravelines has a highly varied range of services available to its customers, which include water and electricity. This Marina has three basins: Bassin Vauban with 250 berths, L´anse des Espagnols with 152 berths and Quai des Islandais with 78 berths. In port de Plaisance Gravelines can moor boats maximum length of 70.00 m and a maximum draft of 3.70 meters.
Traffic figures: Approx 9,000t of imports and exports are handled annually.
Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
Max size: Max LOA 70m, beam 9.8m, max draught 2.4-3.7m depending on the tide level.
