General Description
Location: Figueira da Foz is a central W coast Portuguese port located S of Aveiro.
General overview: Used chiefly by fishing boats and vessels up to 3,000GT due to draught restrictions. The port has a general cargo berth and a dry bulk terminal. As a tidal port, arrivals and sailings are subject to tides. Delays may occur owing to bad weather, especially during winter months. The main cargoes include paper and pulp, sawn timber and logs, steel mill products. Drybulk cargoes such as clay, china clay, gypsum, limestone, coal and cullet.
Currently, this port offers regular shipping solutions for Morocco, France, UK, Netherlands and Germany, being functionally linked to the national North, West and Beira Alta Railways, having na internal connection to the terminals. The Recreational Dock dedicates to recreational boating support and port maritime services. The Recreational Sector serves a fleet of vessels up to 20 metres. General Loading Terminal with 462 mM; 5 berths for ships with 90m; navigation depths of— 5.00 m ZH; capacity to receive ships up to 4.500GT. Solid Bulk Terminal with a berthing extension of 420m; navigation depths of -7.00m ZH (-8.00 m ZH at the connection port); covered storage area with 3.600 rn2 and outdoor storage area with 7.250 m2.
