General Description
Location: Vitoria port is situated on the shores of the Santa Marta River on both sides of Vitoria Bay, occupying part of the city of Vitoria and the district of Vila Velha, in Espirito Santo Bay.
General overview: The entrance to this port is restricted but safe. The approach channel is 7km in length. The Praia Mole Port is next to the dry bulk port of Tubarao, on the eastern side of the bay, both under separate entries.
Cargoes Handled
Exports: Coffee, containers, granite, steel products, sugar and woodpulp.
Imports: Vehicle parts, containers, malt and general breakbulk.
Traffic figures: Approx 8,000,000t of cargo and 250,000TEU handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: Panamax, LOA 242m (day time only), beam 32.4m, draught 9.5 to 10.6m (HW).
There are restrictions on size at night and for vessels using turning basin.
