General Description
Location: Calais is located on the N coast of France, on the SE side of the Dover Straits.
General overview: The port is the most important cross Channel ferry terminal on the French side of the Dover Strait. It is primarily a ferry and Ro-Ro vessel port but facilities also exist for the handling of general cargo, bulk carriers and cruise vessels. The port is connected with the national and European waterway system via a canal able to accommodate 300t barges.

- Sugar Terminal: remarks: Bagged sugar. Two loaders for bagged sugar with a capacity of 70 t.p.h. each with a storage capacity of 67.000 tonnes.
- South Quay: length: 160 m; draft: 9.0 m; remarks: Alcatel factory.
● Inner Harbour:
- Paul Devot: LOA: 190 m; draft: 9.0 m; remarks: Passengers.
- Carnot Basin Dock: length: 1,680 m; LOA: 150 m; draft: 6.4 m; remarks: General cargo/the dock is tidal.
Traffic figures: Approx 38,000,000t of cargo, 1,600,000 cars and trucks, 10,500,000 passengers handled annually.
