General Description
Location: The port of Suez is situated at the southern end of the Suez Canal, approx. 170km S of Port Said.
General overview: The bay is sheltered except from the S, providing an anchorage area for vessels awaiting pilots. The port consists of Port Ibrahim (see separate entry), providing berths for general cargo and passenger vessels; New Harbour, where facilities for tankers and livestock vessels are situated and Port Tewfik (see separate entry), used to accommodate passenger vessels in transit.
