General Description
Location: Quebec is located on the St Lawrence River, 750nm from the Atlantic Ocean. General overview: Quebec is the farthest inland deep water connection to the Great Lakes, St Lawrence Seaway and is also favourably placed for trade with North European ports and provides full intermodal connections to all its terminals.
Diversified facilities are located in four port sectors (the Estuary, Anse au Foulon, Beauport and South shore), including 35 corporation wharves, St Romuald deep draught liquid bulk terminal, mineral concentrates, coal and chemicals, grain elevators and general purpose berths handling goods ranging from dairy products to newsprint. There are extensive repair and bunkering services and year round navigation. Exports: Grain, ores and concentrates, newsprint, granite and petroleum products. Imports: Crude oil, ores and concentrates.
Traffic figures: Approx 1,500 vessels, 27,200,000t of cargo, and 113,000 passengers handled annually.
