General Description
Location: Dharamtar port is located on the W bank of the Amba River (Dharamtar Creek), 7NM from its mouth.
General overview: The Port of Dharamtar is a coastal shipping tri-modal port handling containers, bulk and breakbulk cargoes by road, sea and rail. On the E bank of the river is Geetapuram Port Services a lightering port for coal imports. The port is operated by JSW to mainly serve the JSW Steel Dolvi steel plant with coal and ore.
JSW has a jetty that includes (Length 331m // Draft 4.5m):
- 5 Berths
- 2 MHC (LHM-250) & (LHM-280)
- 3 Conveyor Systems
- 2 Barge Unloaders
Mostly handles imported cargo such as iron ore pellets, lumps, limestone, coke, dolomite and scrap iron. The capacity it can handle daily is around 45,000 tons and up to 34 million tons annually.
There are expansion plans to develop Container Berths, LNG Terminal and a tug berth.
