General Description
Location: Colon port is located near Cristobal, in the Bay of Limon, on the Atlantic coast. General overview: The quays are protected from the sea by a breakwater which also protects the canal entrance in the Atlantic sector. Manzanillo International Terminal: Developed as a transhipment centre for the handling of import/export of containers, Ro-Ro and break bulk cargo. Coco Solo North: Is located to the NE of Colon. The development may also be referred to as the Panama Container Terminal (PCT). The port comprises of 4 docks making up 9 berths. Traffic figures: Approx 120 vessels 380,000t of cargo, 2,005,000TEU, and 166,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Colon Container Terminal: LOA 240m, draught 14.0m.
