General Description
Location: Chioggia is situated on the Venetian Lagoon and connected to the Adriatic by the Perognola Canal, approx 24km S of Venice.
General overview: Chioggia is divided into two areas (Isola dei Saloni under disposal, and Val da Rio, the center of commercial activities and the new terminal). In addition to its cargo facilities, including handling bulk grain, Chioggia is the main fishing port of the area with fish harbour and a small passenger terminal. Its inland transport infrastructure is being improved and the port itself is under some expansion. Val da Rio is the harbour which develops around quays, fixed and floating jetties south and north of Isola Morin, protected against waves and all winds. More then 450 mooring places for sailing and /or motor boats up to 24 meters in length with draughts up to 5 meters are equipped with mooring poles or fingers.
