Location: The Port of Marsa el Brega is located in Al Wahat in the southern region of the Gulf of Sidra
General overview: The Port of Marsa el Brega serves primarily as an offshore oil terminal.
The port features alongside berths designed for LNG, products, and chemical traffic. It serves as a major commercial oil port, equipped with an artificial harbor and multiple offshore berths capable of accommodating tankers up to VLCC size, as well as handling general cargo and RoRo vessels.
The port is owned and operated by Sirte Oil Company, a subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation, and its primary function is the loading of general cargo, oil, and petrochemical products.
It is important to note that Marsa el Brega is currently situated in an area affected by civil conflict, so caution should be exercised. Additionally, the port does not have a passenger terminal facility.
