Location: Oran is situated 400km W of Algiers. General overview: The port consists of seven basins with a water area of 120ha protected by breakwaters. There are 37 berths on quay of 3.5km. Oran is a major commercial harbour with extensive facilities available for handling most types of cargo including general cargo, liquid petroleum products, coal and grain, containers and Ro-Ro/passenger traffic. Also a specialized facility for handling and storing wine. Traffic figures: Approx. 3,161,800t of cargo and approx. 1,100 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Summer.
