The shipping platform

Location: Split lies approx midway along the Adriatic coastline of Croatia close to Sibenik. Port of Split is the largest port in Dalmatia. Due to deep protrusion in island area, the access to the port is enabled by coastal or internal access waterways through Drvenik, Šolta and Brač channel and “Splitska vrata”. General overview: The port is also known as Sportska Lucica Marj. The port consists of two harbours areas; Gradska Luka (Southern Port) used mainly by cruise liners and ferries, and Sjeverna Luka (Northern Port) which includes Kostolanski Basins 'A' (reserved for mooring of ships under instructions by the port authority), 'B' (cargo terminal used by the secondary concessionaires (other than Luka d.d. Split), generally for their own transport needs, accommodating ships with draught up to 8.2 meters ) and 'C' (mooring for laid-up vessels, pest control, fishing boats etc.; the terminal accommodates craft with draught up to 11.6 meters) and Vranjicko-Solinski Basin (used as a container cargo terminal, comprising 5 berths, a roll-on/roll-off ramp, 8 storage warehouses, including refrigerated storage and open storage area; the terminal accommodates ships up to 198 meters (650 feet) long with draught up to 10.2 meters (33 feet). There is also an additional area to the W of Sjeverna Luka, Resnik Basin 'D', which enables airport passengers to have quicker access to ferries. The principal cargoes handled are cattle, mineral ores, general cargo, grain, cement, oil and derivatives, timber, marble, wine and Ro-Ro traffic. The area also has shipyards, cement plants, a naval base and several yacht marinas. Coastal part of the City port basin comprises area from the west breakwater to the junction of Obala Lazareta and Obala hrvatskog narodnog preporoda, offering 2136,5 m long operative coast and 25 berths. Traffic figures: Approx 4,000,000 passengers are handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Gradska Luka: LOA 250m, draught 8.5m. Sjeverana Luka: 10.6m (general and bulk cargoes), 11.3m (grain) and 11.6m (petroleum products).
