General Description
Location: Umm Qasr is situated at the confluence of the Khor Zubair and the Khor Abdullah Rivers.
General overview: Umm Qasr consists of 21 berths in a 5,000m quay.

Umm Qasr is the main cargo port for Iraq with facilities for passengers, containers bulk and general cargoes.
Traffic figures: The port is visited by approx. 90 vessels and handles 50,000TEUs monthly.

IMO Class 1 (MOD / IPA / Terminals - Handled by Basra Multipurpose Terminal)
IMO 1 is permitted for Ministry of Defense only and subject to permissions by authorities. No Transit of IMO 1 is permitted officially.
Cargo to be received on direct delivery by Ministry of Defense from vessel.
Iraq Ports do not require to declare other cargo onboard. No naked military cargo should appear on board vessel.
If vessel carrying IMO 1 should be away from accommodations.The container/cargo cannot be handled at iraq ports and should be away from any stevedore activity or access. Vessel should not declare and any such transit will be at vessel / owner / charterer risk and responsibility.
