General Description
Location: On the north coast of Bahrain Island, south of the capital Manama, within sheltered waters adjacent to Sitra.
General overview: The seaport Mina Salman is the country's main commercial port facility, housing the department of customs clearance in its premises. Port handles general cargo, containers, dry bulk and coastal and Ro-Ro vessels.
The port occupies a natural harbor sheltered to the NE by the islands of Muharraq and Hidd. The port has 15 berths each covering 200 m, capable of accommodating ships weighing up to 70,000 DWT, two of them are container berths and the remaining are conventional cargo berths, which can accommodate vessels with draughts varying from 5.5m to 10.5 m.
Berths: The main cargo terminal located at the NW end of the port has total berth length 1,200 m. consisting of two conventional cargo, three container and one Ro-Ro berth.

There are separate entries for the new port of Khalifa Bin Salman and Sitra/ASRY Drydocks. The storage area covers 400,000 sq m for storing up to 10,000 TEU and an additional 200,000 sq m of the open storage yard. The port offers 320 reefer connections and port storage.
Traffic figures: Approx 4,600,000t of cargo, 238,700TEU and 3,000 vessels handled annually. 80% of the handled cargo are containers.
