General Description
Location: The Port of Klaipeda is situated in the Sea Channel, connecting the Curonian Lagoon to the Baltic Sea.
General overview: The Port of Klaipeda is the largest port in Lithuania and the second largest in the Baltic among the European Union ports.
The port caters to both cruise ships and freight transport and is equipped to handle most types of moderate to large-sized vessels for bulk liquids, raw products, containers, and general cargo. It remains open throughout the year and can handle fully loaded Panamax tankers.
The port serves as the most significant transport hub in Lithuania and connects sea, land, and railway routes from east to west.
The port primarily imports sugar, frozen goods, containers, and machinery while exporting grain, metals, fertilizers, timber, cement, peat, oil products, and containers.
