General Description
Location: Trelleborg is situated on the extreme S tip of Sweden. General overview: Trelleborg is one of the largest Ro-Ro and ferry ports in Scandanavia, each day 14 ferries serve regular routes to Rostock, Travemunde and Sassanitz. Located only 85km from the German border, it is the southern most Swedish port. The three pools of the harbour total 253,000m². Nyhamnen, "The New Harbour", has a depth of 8.0m and has quays to the N and S. Also on the S side is the oil dock with its nearby tanks. The western pool has a depth of 8.0m. The eastern pool has a depth of 8.0m in its western part and 6.5m elsewhere. The land area of the harbour facilities totals 474,000m² and a total quay length of 1,820m. Traffic figures: Approx 10,700,000t of cargo and 2,100,000 passengers are handled annually. There are approx 40 arrivals and departures of ferries daily. Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Max draught 7.6m. Largest vessel handled: Approx 15,000DWT.
