General overview: The Port of Kattupalli which was expected to be operational by April 2012 is a private port constructed by L & T Shipbuilding Limited, which is setting up a shipyard and a minor port complex, including a container facility. Since 2015, Adani Group operates the port The port facility comprises of a 1.5km northern breakwater, 3km southern breakwater, 5km navigational channel to a depth of 15m and other harbour related infrastructure. Kattupalli handles containers, fertilizers, minerals, agriproducts, steels and project cargoes and also plans to build offshore platforms, besides meeting defense requirement.
