General Description
Location: Cigading is situated on the W coast of Java, 2nm E of Pulau Ular, facing the Sunda Strait. General overview: Cigading is a private port, under the jurisdiction of Merak Pilot Station and operated by PT Krakatau Banedar Samudra, a subsidiary company of PR Krakatau Steel.
The port serves the Steelworks and has facilities for importing bulk iron ore and exporting steel products from 3 general cargo berths. It is the deepest port in Indonesia and cargoes handled include; corn, soybean, sugar, soybean meal, iron ore, gypsum coal, salt and general cargo. The main berths are on a concrete T jetty with further smaller wharf inshore.
There is also an offshore CBM for the discharge of oil cargoes for the steel works.
Traffic figures: Approx 312 vessels with approx 3,976,000t of cargo handled annually.
