General Description
Location: Bodo is located on the far N coast of Norway, approx 50km N of Glomfjord and 727km N of Trondheim. It is situated on Bodolandet at the N entrance to the E part of Saltfjorden and is approached through Svartoksleia (67°16'N 014° 17'E). General overview: The port is well equipped providing ice free accommodation for a large variety of vessels. The inner harbour, approx 1,500m x 400m is fringed by a large number of quays. In the W part of the port and along the jetty there are many smaller wooden quays reserved for smaller guest boats and fishing vessels. The depth is from 2.0-5.0m. Exports include: Fish, fish oil and other fish products. Imports include: Oil, coke, coal, salt and cement. Traffic figures: International cargo throughput approx 33,000t and coastal approx 521,000t annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Oil tankers drawing 9.75m or less and of 18,000dwt or less, can be accepted in the inner harbour. Maximum draft permissible at the coal, salt and warehouse quays is 6.7m
