General Description
Location: The Port Louis is situated on the northwest coast of Mauritius, approximately 500 nautical miles east of Madagascar.
General overview: The commercial area of Port Louis encompasses the space inside the port, delineated by the entrance buoys and the inner harbor shoreline.
Exports: Port Louis handles various export commodities, including sugar, cement, black oil, bunkers (delivered by barges and pipeline), molasses, ethanol, manufactured goods, and processed products in containers.
Imports: The port facilitates the importation of cement, coal, wheat, maize, soya bean meal, fertilizer, bitumen, edible oil, white and black oil, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), general cargo break bulk, and containers.
Traffic figures: Approx. 2,000 vessels, 6,500,000t of cargo including 455,000TEU and 52,000 passengers are handled annually.

Max size: Terminals 1 & 2: Draught 11.0m. Terminal 3: 5th Generation container vessels (11,600TEU) can be accommodated at the Mauritius Container Terminal, draught 13.0m.
