General Description
Location: Lianyungang is situated on the Yellow Sea coast in northern Jiangsu Province, sheltered by Dong Xi Lian Island and the breakwater/highway leading to the Island from Beiying Point.
General overview: The port consists of the Old Port, Miaoling and Xugou port areas and is a rapidly expanding port with land reclamation for a large new container terminal on the N shore. There are two large container terminals, also new bulk and iron ore berths at nearby Miaoling. Imports include: Coal, steel, iron ore, grain, timber, chemical fertilisers, alumina, wheat and general cargo. Exports: Coal, sliced potatoes, seed extracts, general cargo, cement and phosphate rocks.
Traffic figures: Approx 71,322,000t of cargo, 1,302,000TEU and 65,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: Summer.
