General Description
Location: The Port of Kanmon Ko is situated between the islands of Kyushu and Honshu in western Japan, occupying a large portion of the Kanmon Kaikyo strait.
General overview: The Port of Kanmon Ko, a major complex, is composed of six individual harbours: Nishuyama, Wakamatsu, and Kokura in the west of the strait, and Shimonoseki, Moji, and Tanaoura in the east.
The complex is supported by the city of Shimonoseki on the northern side and by the amalgamation of five cities, Kitakyushu, on the southern side. The region is a significant industrial zone in Japan and a hub for maritime activity
