General Description
Location: The Port of Shimonoseki is situated at the western tip of Honshu, on the Kanmon Straits, directly opposite Moji.
General overview: The Port of Shimonoseki is a major commercial hub located in Japan, consisting of 5 key areas including Main Port, Nishiyama/Arata/Fukuura Ports, Hananocho Port, East Port and Chofu Port.
The Main Port area handles a variety of cargoes, including dry and liquid bulk, Ro-Ro, passengers, containers, and general cargoes.
The port also features an oil terminal on the island of Mutsure and Choshu Dejima, an artificial reclaimed island, which is under construction for international multipurpose traffic.
