General Description
Location: Elbeharbour is the main harbour of Brunsbuttel Port, which itself is located at the mouth of the Elbe Estuary at the western end of the Kiel Canal.
General overview: Elbeharbour is a port area of Brunsbuttel. Brunsbuttel, as an important port, it handles all traffic entering and leaving the southwestern end of the canal through locks, which divide the port into Elbeharbour Brunsbuttel and Brunsbuttel Binnenhafen, tidal and non-tidal areas, respectively. The majority of cargo handled at Elbeharbour is crude oil, liquid gas and a wide range of bulk commodities. There is a trimodal terminal-connection at Brunsbüttel with efficient transport ways by truck, rail, feeder, sea vessels and barges, thus providing excellent conditions as logistical turntable.
Traffic figures: Approx. 7,836,000 tonnes of cargo and 26,255 TEUs are handled annually.
