General Description
Location: Esbjerg is located on the W coast of Jutland, 15nm ESE of Blavands Huk Point and is sheltered by Fano Island. General overview: A large well situated and equipped port that can handle most types of cargo and ferry/cruise ship passengers. Principal cargoes include containers, Ro-Ro, fossil and liquid fuels, aggregates and fish. The port is open all the year round, even in severe weather. Traffic figures: Approx 17,600 vessels, 4,600,000t of cargo, 238,000TEU, and 1,840,000 passengers handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 225m (Australienkai 250m), beam 71m, draught 10.3m (HW), 76,640DWT. Vessels above LOA 220m have to wait for slack water before entering the harbour. Largest vessel handled: LOA 246m, bulk carrier carrying coal.
