General Description
Location: The port of Fortaleza is located on the NE Brazilian coast, midway between Recife and Belem, in Mucuripe Bay.
General overview: The port consists of a single dry cargo wharf, 1,116m in length, which handles a wide range of cargoes including imports of cotton, cement, rice, newspaper, and containers. Specialized cargo is loaded and discharged at two ore and bulk cargo terminals, tanker terminal, liquefied gas terminal and the fishing wharf.

Facilities: 1x8 in. liquid line, 1x6 in. vapor line.
Exports: Fruit, textiles, machinery, cement, cashew nuts and oil, leather.
Imports: Grain, petroleum products, machinery, ceramic tiles.
Traffic figures: Approx 3,632,385t of cargo, 69,030TEU, 145 coastal vessels, and approx 471 foreign vessels are handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: LOA 210m, beam 40m, draught 10.3m, (9.1m at any tide).

No. 1: Vessels over draft 8.0 m. radius of 0.3 n.m. in position Lat. 03° 41.7' S, Long. 38° 30.3' W.
No. 2: Vessels less than draft 8.0 m. radius of 0.3 n.m. in position Lat. 03° 42.1' S, Long. 38° 29.8' W.
Note: The max draught is expected to be increased to 10.6m-10.8m once the Brazilian Navy has completed its survey of recent dredging operations.
