Location: The port of Fortaleza is located on the NE Brazilian coast, midway between Recife and Belem, in Mucuripe Bay. General overview: The port consists of a single dry cargo wharf, 1,116m in length, which handles a wide range of cargoes including imports of cotton, cement, rice, newspaper, and containers. Specialized cargo is loaded and discharged at two ore and bulk cargo terminals, tanker terminal, liquefied gas terminal and the fishing wharf. Traffic figures: Approx 3,632,385t of cargo, 69,030TEU, 145 coastal vessels, and approx 471 foreign vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical.
