Location: Agigea lock is located at the entrance in the Danube-Black Sea Canal from the port of Constantza South (km 1.9) in the neighborhood of the administration Headquarter.
General overview: Agigea (also known as Constantza South Port) is a sub port of Constantza. The canal Danube-Black Sea Canal is entered from the Black Sea at Constanta South Port through the locks at Agigea (Km 1.9). The canal has double locks at Agigea (Km 1.9) and Cernavoda (Km 60.3). The lock chambers are 310m in length, 25m in width and min sill depth of 7.5m. The max time for passing the locks is 60 mins. There are 2 x 300hp tugs available for manoeuvring into the ports and for assistance on the canal if required.
Traffic figures: Agigea has an annual traffic capacity of 600 vessels.
Load line zone: Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Dec 1 to Feb 28/29, Summer Mar 1 to Nov 30.
