General Description
Location: Thilawa is located approx 25km SE of Yangon (previously Rangoon) on the Yangon River. General overview: Following Cyclone Nargis, operations at Myanmar International Terminal Thilawa are limited to geared vessels only due to the collapse of the two quay cranes. According to reports some other terminals are closed to traffic. Thilawa is a relatively new port which can accommodate up to 5 Panamax size vessels. The total area of the port is approx 75ha with a total berth length of approx 1,000m. Load line zone: Bay of Bengal Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Dec 1 to Apr 30, Summer May 1 to Nov 30. Max size: LOA 260m (cruise vessels).
