Location: The port of Moulmein (formerly Mawlamyine) is situated in the Gulf of Martabank, on the E coast. General overview: Moulmein offers berths for coastal cargoes and lighterage facilities for deep sea vessels. Principal exports are rice, rubber and timber. Main imports are hardware. Traffic figures: Approx 100 passenger ships and 60 tankers visit the port annually. Load line zone: Bay of Bengal Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Dec 1 to Apr 30, Summer May 1 to Nov 30. Max size: LOA 80m, 2,000DWT.
