Location: Situated in the Province of Quebec, Port Alfred is an industrial town in Ha-Ha Bay at the head of the Saguenay River. General overview: Ha-Ha Bay is a natural deep water bay 10km in length, the bottom of all the berths is soft mud and clay. Principal Commodities: Imports: Liquid and dry bulk commodities, bauxite, alumina, green coke, fluorspar, oil and caustic soda. Exports: Newsprint paper, aluminium products, wood pulp lumber, etc. Traffic figures: Approx 5,000,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
