General Description
Location: Methil is located on the S bank of the River Leven, on the W side of Largo Bay on the E coast of Scotland. General overview: The port consists of two working docks, No 1 and No 2. The docks are protected to the E by an outer pier and entered from the S via a short channel 15m wide into No 2 Dock through gates which are normally operated from 2 hours before HW until HW. No 1 Dock is entered from the N end of No 2 Dock through a channel 15m wide. A disused dock, No 3, and its entry channel lie to the E of the working docks. Cargo handled: Forest products, fertiliser, salt, aggregates, timber and other general cargo. Traffic figures: The port handles approx 65 vessels annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: LOA 102m, beam 14.47m, draught 5.0m and up to 3,000DWT.
