General Description
Location: Leith is the port of Edinburgh, located on the S bank of the Firth of Forth on the E coast of Scotland. General overview: Leith is the largest enclosed deepwater port in Scotland and can handle handymax ships up to 50,000DWT. The port consists of 3 docks and a harbour area. These provide 4,700m of quayage and accommodation for tankers, general and bulk cargo, container and Ro-Ro vessels. Leith is also an important cruise destination. Traffic figures: Approx 1,500,000t of cargo are handled annually and approx 50 cruise vessels visit the port annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Max size of vessel is LOA 210m, beam 30m. Any vessel in excess of these dimensions will be considered by the Harbour Master on an individual basis. Max draught 9.7m, depth over lock outer sill 12.2m MHWS.
