General Description
Location: The Maldive group of islands extends in a N/S direction from 00°41.5'S to approx 08°00'N, to the SW of the Indian subcontinent. Male, the principal port, is centrally situated on the E side of the group.
General overview: The new harbour area in the extreme NW of Male is to be used for foreign trade vessels to load and unload cargo vessels. The harbour area incorporates a marina.
The average ship turn around is 88 hours. The port handles all types of cargo except dry bulk, liquefied petroleum and gases.
Traffic figures: Approx 400 vessels and 821,876t of cargo plus 19,250TEU are handled annually. The port handles approx 2,250t of cargo daily.
Load line zone: Tropical
Max size: Lighterage wharf: LOA 60m, beam 10.5m, draught 3.0m.
Northern Pier (new harbour area): LOA 150m, draught 9.5m.
Anchorage: Vessels with 25m draught can be accepted.
IMO (Male port anchorage):
All IMO cargo can be discharged / in transit / loaded. Shifting of containers is not possible. MOD permit will be requiring before vessel enters to Maldivian water for the IMO cargo.
If vessel carries IMO cargo below documents will be required to apply for MOD permit:

-End user License
-Export permit for the IMO cargo
-Import permit for the IMO cargo
-Original of the country
-Manufacture certificate
