Location: The Port of Karatsu Karatsu is located on the NW coast of Kyushu facing Karatsu-wan in Saga prefecture. General overview: The Port of Karatsu is divided into two distinct sections, the East and West Harbours, by Oshima Island. Both sections have ample wharfage for handling a wide range of cargo, including general cargo and bulk commodities such as coal. The port area is well equipped to accommodate vessels of up to 30,000 dwt at the Public Wharves. The Bridgestone Dolphin Jetty is a facility that serves as the terminal for Mitsui Liquefied Gas Co Ltd. It specializes in the import of liquefied gas, accommodating vessels up to 60,000DWT on the western side of Oshima Island. In addition to the main Bridgestone Jetty, there is a smaller jetty located south of it, with a depth alongside of 7 meters. This jetty is used primarily by coastal tankers.
