General Description
Location: The Port of Magdalla is situated on the W coast of India, approx. 120NM N of Mumbai, on the E shore of the Gulf of Khambhat.
General overview: The Port of Magdalla is a lighterage port operated by Gurajat Maritime Board. The deep-water anchorage is about 10NM SW from the Port of Magdalla and bulk carriers and tankers lighterage operations take place at the deep-water anchorage, where the draught is 10-15 meters.
Cargoes handled at Magdalla river jetties:
- Imports: Clinker, food grains, fertilizers, onions, machinery, butane, building materials, iron ore, sponge iron, ethylene and VCM.
- Exports: Fruits, cotton seeds, general cargo, sponge iron, coal.
