General Description
Location: Abadan is situated some 50km from the entrance to Arvand Rud (Shatt-al-Arab) waterway on the Iran-Iraq border. General overview: The port has ceased to take tanker traffic, other than in the coastal trade, since the beginning of the Iran-Iraq war but still maintains a bunkering service. The port's other facilities have also been reduced because of the hostilities. The port handles general cargo, clinker, cement, fruits, foodstuff and oil products. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Max 3,500DWT, max draught 4.2m.
