General Description

Location: Marin is situated on the S side of the head of Ria de Pontevedra in the NW corner of the Iberian Peninsula, 25 km. NNE of Vigo and 105 km. SSW of Coruna. General overview: The port has developed over a number of years and now handles a wide range of cargo including containers. Marin is a naturally-sheltered port handling dry bulk, containers and passengers. There are also facilities for fishing vessels, leisure craft, repairs and bunkering. The Port of Marín has a total of 1,806 metres of commercial docks for maritime traffic and 2,686 metres of fishing docks used for fishing and supply activities. The port has more than 75 hectares of port space and more than 9,800 hectares of sea area. Traffic figures: Approx 500 vessels, 1,600,000 of cargo and 17,900TEU handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Draught 12.0m MLW. Tankers: LOA 100m, draught 6.4m. The largest vessel called at the port: LOA: 230 m, draught: 12.8 m, deadweight: 85,174 t.
