General Description
Location: The port of Holyhead is situated on the NW coast of Wales. General overview: The port is protected from prevailing winds by one of the largest breakwaters in the world. It is both owned and operated by Stena Line Ports for Stena Line ferry services to Ireland (Dublin Bay) and for those of other operators and for general cargo. At present Stena operate a fast ferry service between Holyhead and Dun Laoghaire (Dublin) and a Ro-Ro conventional service to Dublin itself. Irish Ferries also operate a conventional Ro-Ro service and fast ferry to Dublin. Traffic figures: Approx 2,500,000 passengers and 2,850,000t of cargo are handled annually.
