General Description
Location: Gopalpur is situated 4km N of the town of Gopalpur, on the E coast of India.
General overview: Gopalpur is an open roadstead port, which currently operates only seasonally, between Nov and Mar. It is reported that work was due to commence to develop Gopalpur into an all weather port to enable it to operate all year round.
The port handles fertiliser, rice, wheat, food grains, cement, sugar, coal, metal scrap, rutile, monaxite, zicron, all processed minerals, chrome ore, illmenite, garnet, iron oxide and general cargo.
Cargo is loaded/discharged by lighters.
