General Description
Location: The port of Antifer is an oil terminal of the Port of Havre located about 20 km N of Le Havre and S of Étretat, in the municipality of Saint-Jouin-Bruneval.
General overview: Antifer is a subport of Le Havre. It is a port for large-capacity vessels, especially deep-draught supertankers. Initially, the complex was intended to accommodate supertankers 451 m long and 63 m wide with a draught of 28,5 m. However, the natural layout of the site allows for the arrival of vessels with length of 500 m and 90 m beam, with a draught of 33 to 35 m (1,000,000 dwt). A 3,500 m circular dyke was erected in the sea to accomodate oil tankers. The oil installations, along the Seine, from Port-Jérôme to Lillebonne, are connected by a network of underground pipes from the Antifer installations.
Storage facilities consist of six tanks handling crude oil and fuel supplies and total 644,000 cu.m. ULCCs up to 550,000 d.w.t. can be handled without any draft restrictions. The chicksans are 24 in. and can discharge at 20,000 cu.m./hr. having automatic in-line sampler
