General Description
Location: The port of An-Ping is on the SW coast of Taiwan, approx 22nm N of Kaohsiung in Tainan in South District and Anping District.
General overview: An-Ping, an affiliated harbour to Kaohsiung, is a multipurpose commercial and fishing port. Spanning 239 hectares, the port comprises 19 wharves capable of accommodating Bulk carriers weighing around 35,000 tonnes, 2000 TEU container ships, and 70,000 tonnes cruise ships. The entrance channel is 179 m wide and 11.5 m deep. The port handles around 18 million tonnes of bulk cargo annually. The main cargoes handled include construction, chemical, plastics and steel products, the port is expected to become a transhipment centre in the near future.
Traffic figures: The port handles approx. 17,700,000 tons of cargo annually.
