General Description
Location: Vaasa is located on the W coast of Finland, along the Blue Route running through Scandinavia.
General overview: The port of Vaasa is called "Ostrobothnia's Gateway to the West", its operated by Ports of Kvarken.
By volume and scope of services offered, Vaasa port is the center of passenger and freight transport on the Ostrobothnian coast.
The principal parts of the port are (Total Length 1,614m):
- Lasse's Quay (Length 214m // Draft 9m)
- Oil Terminal (Draft 9m // 3 Discharging Arms 1,000 t/h)
- Coal Quay (Length 145m // Draft 9m // Conveyor Belt 1,200t/h)
- Rein's Quay (Length 145m // Draft 7 m)
- Passenger Quay (Draft 5.7m to 6.8m)
- Southern Pier (Length 180m // Draft 5m to 9m)
- Northern Pier (Draft 5.5m to 7.5m)
For Cargo Handling Equipment, Mobile Cranes are available for all quays.
The oil harbour has a storage capacity of 280,000m³, with heating oil distributed to surrounding districts by road tanker.
Two power stations are located in the port area, and coal is imported at the coal harbour for use as fuel.
Ferry services operate between Vaasa and Umea (Sweden) up to twice daily.
Traffic figures: Approx. 560 vessels, 1,432,000t of cargo and 71,000 passengers handled annually.

- Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length.

- Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
