Location: Zhanjiang is situated on the NE coast of Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong, southern China, sheltered by the off-lying islands of Kwangchow Bay. General overview: The port of Zhanjiang consists of 4 areas with 32 berths. The operating quay totals 4,500m. The port also has 74km of special purpose railway and 33km of pipelines. The port handles containers, bulk minerals, grain, tapioca, chrome ore, coal, hazardous product, crude oil, liquid chemical product, passengers and Ro-Ro. Traffic figures: Approx 60,000,000t of cargo and 240,000TEU are handled annually. Load line zone: China Sea Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Jan 21 to Apr 30, Summer May 1 to Jan 20. Max size: District No 3 & 4 (Ore/fertiliser/grain): LOA 200m, draught 12.8m. LPG: LOA 240m, beam 32m, draught 12.0m. Tankers: LOA 280m, beam 45m, draught 15.5m, 100,000DWT.
