Location: Shoreham is located on the S coast near Brighton within 88km of London. General overview: A general cargo and small bulker port with many private wharves handling their own cargoes for vessels of 3,500-8,000DWT range according to port location. Third party traffic is handled by port's own and private stevedoring companies. The port works on a tidally restrictive basis with access for commercial ships 7 hours on each high tide dependent on draught The port has motorway links (M23, M25) to all industrial areas via M3, M4, M1, M2 and M20. Scope exists for terminal operations in pulp, paper, timber, steel and bulk commodities. Traffic figures: Approx 1,740,000t of cargo, including significant volumes of forest products and aggregates, handled annually.
