Location: Puerto Progreso is situated on the N coast of Yucatan peninsula, in the Gulf of Mexico. General overview: The new port of Terminal Remota consists of a 3.5nm causeway with oil, dry bulk and container/general berths at the seaward end and a cruise terminal, 1nm along the causeway from the shoreline. Main exports include sisal, chewing-gum, fish and honey. Traffic figures: Approx 2,839,000t of cargo and 650 vessels handled annually. Load line zone: Summer.
