Location: Wisbech is located on the banks of the River Nene, 12km inland of the Wash estuary on the E coast of England. General overview: Wisbech is a small commercial port, with a quay, approx 800m in length and berthing for 9 vessels up to 2,000DWT. Imports at Wisbech are mainly steel, timber, bulk ore, bulk fertilisers. Exports are mainly grain. Sutton Bridge, 3nm upstream from the entrance of the River Nene has a wharf with four berths for vessels up to 5,000DWT. Traffic figures: Wisbech: Approx 100,000t of cargo handled annually. Sutton Bridge: Approx 500,000t of cargo and 200 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Wisbech: LOA 83m, beam 13.0m, draught 4.8m HWS, 2,000DWT. Vessels over 75m, with an effective bow thruster, need permission from the Harbour Master. Port Sutton Bridge: LOA 120m, draught 6.3m, 5,000DWT.
